Creative Expression

A few weeks ago I included this wonderful Mother’s Day gift I received this year in a post about how I’ve always wanted to create art of the visual kind. You can find the post here: Is It Ever Too Late?

So after receiving this inspiring piece, I decided there was no reason not to try my hand at making something a little creative along these lines.

I found that I had a hard time inventing enough creatures to help fill my page so I improvised. Here’s what I ended up with.

I penciled my doodles, inked them, then colored them. Needs a bit more polish, a mat and frame, then I think I’ll hang it on my office door! It was so much fun, I’ve already got ideas for more.

~~~
I asked if any of you would like to share with us something creative you’ve done and I got some responses! So here they are:
I’m going to start with my daughter-in-law who inspired all this. Here is the picture she drew for my husband for Father’s day (and let me put in a plug for my son Jason-he helped with the coloring!)
The names of our three grandchildren are in this one!
She also put some of her creatures on a pair of shoes!
~~~

Then I got a picture from my brother Paul. He wrote, “Carol, This is my attempt to copy a watercolor of a Venice scene that I really liked (artist unknown).” I had no idea he liked to paint!

Way to go Paul! That’s really awesome! But that’s not all…

This was a weekend project he did for his wife! He said he’d like to turn it into a hobby, but right now, he’s just playing with it.

~~~
I got these from Jean. She takes some beautiful pictures!
These are gorgeous! I love pictures of nature!
~~~

My sister Grace sent these in of a couple vignettes she put together that make her happy when she looks at them.

I love the sense of balance and all the natural materials she used.

~~~
Thanks guys for sending your creations in. I really enjoyed seeing how each of you express yourself!
If any of you are inspired to send something in, I’ll do this again when I have more creations to show. Don’t be shy-I showed my piece in all its glory! I didn’t do the greatest job and it’s not anywhere near as awesome as the ones we got as gifts, but it’s a start.
I’ll just keep doing it until I get better. In the mean time, I’m having fun!
    I love all of these creative projects. Keep it up you guys! I find it ironic that during this global pandemic so many people have turned to some form of creative expression to keep some balance in their lives. And at the same time, the school system and the “powers that be” are STILL wanting to cut art from the curriculum. That just makes no sense what so ever!
      No, it doesn’t make sense. And without any creative expression, without art, what’s the point?
    Hey there. I am so far behind on emails. Just love this creativity. I am not artistic or creative at all. However, I did my first mosaic on a small outdoor table. Always wanted to try it. I ordered all supplies from Amazon and you tubed how to do a mosaic. I am very happy with my first attempt. Then I repainted all my outdoor metal art work and spray painted my outdoor furniture which looks brand new. My roses and lilies planted in the Spring are growing and blooming daily as I tend to them as well. My sister, who is creative, told me, “See Susan, you are creative, more than you know”. So it made me smile. I will keep trying to be creative. I stop at drawing and doodling. God did not grant me that ability at all. I love seeing others drawings though. I was afraid to try anything. I have learned in retirement to just try. It will either work or not. And if it doesn’t keep trying. Thank you Carol.
      Oh, Susan! I would love to see your mosaic table! Your metal artwork, your furniture… All of that is creative. If/when I get a few more pictures, I’m going to do another update. I got one a couple weeks ago, I’m always hoping for more. I love that you’re trying new things, I am trying too. We all have something creative. I do consider landscaping in any form creative. And I’ve always wanted to try doing a mosaic. Maybe you can give me a few pointers! ❤️
      Susan, I’m so impressed that you did that mosaic table! I’d love to see it-send a picture please! Along with your other artistic endeavors. I’ve had one more person share a little project, so when I get a few more, I’ll do another update! You’re far more creative than you think. It doesn’t have to have anything to do with drawing to be creative.
      I’m so glad you have learned to try new things (and seem to be enjoying your “creativity”. Never stop growing, never stop learning. ❤️
        Hey girl. I have your phone number from years ago. I will message you with photos. I am trying. I loved doing the mosaic. It is far from perfect but I love it. Its funny. I have had a few family and friends that have seen it, say, “Where did you get that”? That is beautiful. I laughed out loud with a little bit of pride in my heart that I did it. HAHAHAHAHA! My sister reminded me like you did, you don’t have to draw to be creative. I want to try more mosaics. I have another table to do and I would like to do some of some round or square stones. Its not hard. Now I admire the people who do pictures in mosaics. I will stick to just random mosaics. Its fun too. Love you girl.
          The photos are beautiful! I absolutely love the mosaic table. I’m thinking of looking for plates at Goodwill I can break and make into a mosaic. It would be so much fun! I have a table that needs a new top. I may pester you for some pointers! ❤️
