Little Luxuries Just For Me

Sometimes, you just need to pamper yourself.

Everybody deserves to have a little luxury in their life. I don’t think my idea of being pampered is necessarily what most people think of, but here are some of the ways I like to pamper myself!

Put fresh flowers in the house. Nothing feels as good as bringing the garden inside.

When I’m not feeling up to snuff, I like to do what my mother used to do for me when I was a child. I snuggle up under a fluffy comforter on the couch with a cup of hot tea and some toast and listen to the sounds of life all around me as I drift in and out of sleep.

When I’m home alone, I like to turn off all the noise and revel in the luxury of silence.

It’s always such a treat to buy a really nice writing pen that feels good in my hand.

Going to bed early is a luxury in itself, but going to bed early with a good book is such a lovely indulgence.

Sitting in my office, I love to take a minute to look around at all the memories I have hanging on the walls or perched on the shelves and just soak in the love.

Bake some bread. Homemade bread with butter, even if we had it every day, is a luxury worth the effort.

Since we heat our house with wood, it’s a luxury to let the fire go out every now and then and turn on the heater instead.

Spending the entire day in my pajamas.

Whole milk.

Living in freedom is a luxury I will never take for granted.

I saved the best for last: crawling into a freshly made bed with fresh, clean sheets wearing a fresh, clean pair of pajamas right after taking a shower. And it wouldn’t hurt my feelings if it’s early, I have a good book, and there’s a vase of fresh flowers on my night stand.

At this point in my life, taking a shower at the gym. Because the one at my house sucks.
That’s my luxury at the moment 🙂

Aaahhhhh! If you have to go to the gym for it-you’ve earned that luxury!

I love this writing and your thoughts. I have some of the same ideas as you on luxuries in life. I too love fresh flowers and just vegetating on the couch catching up on my TV shows or a good movie while under my favorite blanket. Isn’t life great that we afford ourselves these luxuries. I did not get this age to not have luxuries in my life sometime. Of course there is nothing better than homemade bread and butter. I also just love to sit on my back porch in the quiet and just listen and watch the birds. Have a luxurious kind of day Carol.

    Love,
    Susan

Thanks Susan, you too! I’ll be sitting under the carport listening to the birds as well!

QUIET. To sit at the kitchen table and listen to the creek babbling over the rocks. leaving for work at 1am on a cold winters night and seeing how bright all the stars twinkle. Waking up at 6am and realizing I don’t have to work today. And last but NOT least anytime spent with my sibs. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Aren’t your special luxuries the best? I love your first one. I thoroughly enjoyed sitting at your kitchen table, the creek flowing, the birds coming and going, the heron, the racoon! Coming home last fall to spend time with all of you was the best! Thanks brother!
