Today
Today, I don’t care.
This picture was meant for a different blog post about how we use our gifts throughout our lifetime in different ways.
I was going to tell you how writing isn’t my gift, that my point of view is and how writing is just how I’m expressing it at this point in my life.
But today, I don’t care.
There are so many pressures in life (from inside and outside ourselves) to do what is expected of us, to act certain ways, to be this or that kind of person.
But today I don’t care.
Today, my grandkids are coming over for the day.
Today, my husband is recuperating from a bad cold that wanted to settle in his lungs.
Today, I’m not baking a cake or making a lasagna, I’m going to run out later for Chinese.
We may make PB&J sandwiches for lunch; we might have cheese and crackers and some fruit.
Today, we’re not planning anything.
We’re just going to be.

Today is a good day to not care! Not caring sometimes is all the motivation you need to enjoy your day!
Absolutely! I’m with you there!
This is a very stressful few weeks of the year for me. This year I’m actually trying to work on myself to “not care”. I’m the one who puts the stress on myself, nobody else stresses about it, nor cares about the stress it causes me – so you know what, this week, I’ve been very proud of myself to “not care”!! It’s time I put myself first instead of everyone else!! Now, if I can just keep this momentum going for the next 3 weeks I can handle all!
Do it! You deserve a stress-free week. And beyond…
We need our “I don’t care” days to give us perspective to appreciate the rest of our lives. Your post brought to mind something I read awhile back. It was a story called I Wish You Enough from the book Chicken Soup for the Grieving Soul, sent in by Bob Perks. This isn’t the whole story, just what the title “I wish you enough” means.
I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough “hellos” to get you through the final “goodbye”.
I agree. With enough ‘I don’t care” days, we are better equipped to stand up to the challenges of all the other days. I thoroughly enjoyed my grandchildren yesterday while ignoring the dishes and other responsibilities that weren’t urgent. I only get to be a part of their lives while I’m here-and I don’t want to miss a thing!
I wish you enough ‘I don’t care’ days to fill your heart with joy!
Dear Pierre…your lunch and dinner plans gave you away 🙂 Of all the people I know in this world…You, my sister CARE. It’s something all of us can count on! I love You
Oh, Grace, yes indeed I care! I do, however, apologize for short-changing you all last week. The post I intended to write was magnificent (in my head). I try to blog like it’s my job (one I dearly love) but sometimes I just have to relinquish the day to life, which is my real job. Love, Pierre!
